4 ways to live a gratified life for a more fulfilled existence
By Mary-Rose Ilaya

Living a life of gratitude is one of the surest ways of having a fulfilled existence, as it helps us get rid of toxic emotions and leads us towards embracing everything positive in our lives by continuously counting our blessings.

I believe that we shouldn’t wait until the end of the year to be grateful for the events that occurred in our lives. Instead, we should endeavor to live our lives with gratitude daily, as it enables us to be optimistic individuals.

We should therefore make it a habit to show gratitude in all spheres of life because every little detail in our lives matters. We should learn to be thankful for the fresh air we breathe, the food we eat, the peace we enjoy, the opportunities available to us, the mastery of skills we possess and the sunlight that brightens our days.

A solid sense of gratitude helps us let go of the worries, stress and anxiety, increases our confidence and resilience, helps us have an optimistic and positive outlook on life, helps us develop endurance and establish our trust in God. Even though developing this habit takes time and effort, we build them continually with daily repetition.

In this article, we look at ways to live life with gratitude. Ready? Let’s go.

How to Live a Life of Gratitude

Our lives become more pleasant and filled with good tidings of positivity and joy when we live with gratitude to God and man. So, here’s how to live a life of gratitude.

Practice Mindfulness

Schedule 10 minutes daily to sit and think about 5 to 10 things that you’re grateful for. It could be things that have happened in the past, currently happening, or things that are about to happen. The trick to practicing mindfulness is to picture what you’re grateful for in your mind and let those feelings of gratitude envelop you. Engaging in this activity every day will rewire your brain to be more grateful naturally. Research says your brain only requires eight weeks of gratitude practice to start showing a change in brain patterns that lead to increased happiness and empathy.

Keep a gratitude journal.

After your daily mindfulness session, you can take it a step further by writing down what you’re grateful for in a journal. This can help you keep track of all the positives in your life and continually evoke the feeling of gratitude anytime you open it.

Celebrate with others

Celebrating with others can help you live a life of gratitude. So, don’t be envious of your neighbors’ accomplishments; always be genuinely happy for them. I love to say that it’s good to rejoice with people for it means good news is in the neighborhood. Soon it will be your turn to rejoice, and others will celebrate with you.

Be a Volunteer

Giving back to others in society will help fill you up with gratitude, as you will be reminded of the things you take for granted. Also, research has shown that volunteering to help others, boosts our well-being. So helping others helps you.

Appreciate Kind Gestures

Do you frequently say thank you? When someone aids in lifting your bag or opens the door for you or throws kindness your way? The ability to appreciate the kindness of others can help you live life with gratitude.

In conclusion,

Learning to live a life of gratitude will help us become thankful in both good and bad times, and enable us to always have a positive outlook on life.

Even though inculcating the practice of gratitude may not come naturally to us, we have to strive to practice it, as it is a significant factor for a happier and more enjoyable life.
