A Nigerian proverb says “A man cannot sit down alone to plan for posterity” – Black Enterprise. This lines up with the saying that if you want to go fast, go alone; and if you want to go far, go with others.
Teamwork is essential to success. If we are going to build a thriving Africa for posterity, it is better to work together in building a gift system that keeps giving. Our general preference to have our governments chart the pathways to our intra-continental trade connections will likely yield little.
Coordinated effort among African entrepreneurs is the linchpin to a prosperous Africa. When we align our strengths and resources so that we are efficient in production and effective in distribution, we will see the day of free-flowing intra Africa trade.
How about we set on a goal so audacious that it blows Africa wide open. Such a goal would be for example having the African entrepreneurs build four toll superhighways – two running North to South and the other two running East to West – all under management of a continental highway authority.
For us to rise, we better think exceedingly high and big.
