“One who causes others misfortune also teaches them wisdom” – African Proverb, donnawhitebooks.com
Africa has had its share of adversities from slave trade to colonialism to neo-colonialism. All these defeats have taught us resilience, tolerance, and above all, wisdom.
Every unfortunate occurrence carries a profit that broods inside wisdom. The process that will clarify our thoughts is the constant seeking of lessons from our experiences. Our growth comes from knowing why things happen, and how we can do better.
Knowing our roots, by understanding our history well, will help us create the future that we want. The difficulties often associated with Africa are ignorance, disease, and poverty.
However, the truth is different. Our truth as regards these evils of ignorance, disease, and poverty is not the true truth. The true truth is that we are as rich as we feel, we are as healthy as we believe, and we are as enlightened as we choose.
Africa has enough human resources to enlighten every African, adequate material wealth to enrich us all, and enough knowledge to heal the world. Let us make the choice to prosper.
