All areas of our lives are linked in some way to our mental health, an area that has for so long been taken for granted. That part that includes our emotional, psychological and social well-being.

The reason why mental health is of great importance in success is matter-of-factly that, it comes with what it takes to be a successful person. As we know, success comes with a price. It carries along greater expectations, responsibilities and even fame. That is to mean, as we strive for excellence, we forget to have time for self-care or even moments of relaxation.

We all are victims. Business people, artists, writers, executives and any high performing individual in the society and Africa at large. For too long, we have defined success in terms of status and money. Have we taken a moment to reflect on how comfortable or content we are? This is because, the way we feel, act and think, determines how we handle or build success. Do we even understand who we are? Because, if we find that satisfaction and understanding, then we have arrived at success.

In the same way diet and fitness contributes fundamentally to our well-being, so does mental stability. When our mental health is in check, we become creative idealistic beings. We are able to learn, implement and manage new things that build our lives in various ways. We also gain the ability to cope with the challenges that come along with building a successful life. We avoid stagnance. This comes with the aptitude to recognize our capabilities in life, the untapped, resourceful and resilient abilities we have.

Regardless of how busy you are – whether you own that empire of companies, that small startup business, always invest in your mental health for therein, lies the strength to build a successful life. With that, don’t be surprised to see yourself achieving more than you could possibly imagine with a far greater sense of purpose and contentment.
