Many adventures or goals in life fail to happen because they only live in the planning stages and never translate into action. There is no such thing as being too young or old to pursue your dreams.
As humans, we all are growing older, and there will be many symptoms to show that we are growing old. Some will be unable to do the hard work, others will lose their eyesight, and others will have memory loss. Aging is a fact of life, and the aging process cannot be halted, no matter how hard we try.
Nonetheless, we can stay young mentally if we refuse to let our minds get old by allowing our curiosity to remain as it was when we were young.
The notion that people say that life only happens when we are young is a lie. Even young people can achieve great things at a young age. When you ask someone who is 60, they will tell you that they just started living life and that age doesn’t count.
Society has defined guidelines on who is considered young and who is not. They even described when you should start a career, get married and have a family, and shockingly enough, when you should own a house and a car.
All these guidelines have come to lay expectations that come out as pressure on people such that if you don’t accomplish any of those things, people start worrying about your life. Only those that have truly lived life know that age is just but a number.
Mark Twain said, “Age is an issue of mind over matter. If you don’t mind, it doesn’t matter.”
Life never stops; it keeps going. We never stop learning, we never stop upgrading, and certainly not; we never stop growing. Having so much experience is what gives wisdom, not age.
Those who have managed to make strides with their lives while old have a clear vision, determination, and a strong desire to make things happen despite their age.
Anyone from any age can turn their dream into a reality because age isn’t a barrier, especially when passion is involved. Passion can help you overcome almost any possible obstacle, no matter what your age is.
You are only as old or young as you perceive yourself to be. If you perceive yourself as young, you can do anything a young person can.
I know of an old man whose determination to succeed has been stopped by nothing. This man has seen it all. His life has had its fair share of challenges, but nothing has prevented him from becoming the person he intends to be.
He has gone through things that I would have given up a long time ago, but to him, those were just minor challenges in life. He has a very positive mindset, almost feeling like nothing shakes him at all.
Surprisingly, he still has his dream clear in his mind. He has a picture of his dream home and everything he has wanted to achieve. He says that death could only separate him from that goal, but as long he is alive and able, nothing will ever stop him.
Imagine yourself chasing after opportunities in the ’60s? Busy sending Cvs for job applications? Ha! It’s funny how young people are almost breaking and giving up on the verge of any challenge. From the example of this man, I carry a lot of lessons with me.
I learned to not let failure hinder me from going after my goals and that success is achievable despite your age. Our mind is a powerful tool, and we should use it to cope with aging.
Anyone can achieve it, and yes, it is possible. After all, if you don’t mind, it doesn’t matter.
