As part of its Golden Jubilee celebrations, Rusinga Schools has unveiled plans to establish the Rusinga Innovation Hub, a cutting-edge facility designed to foster STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) learning and technological innovation among students.
The hub, set to launch in the coming months, will serve as a center for coding, programming, and robotics, equipping learners with future-ready skills. It will also host the Annual Rusinga Hackathon, bringing together young innovators from across the globe to develop tech-driven solutions to real-world challenges.
A Legacy of Excellence in Education
Founded in 1975, Rusinga Schools has built a reputation as a leader in international education, blending holistic learning with strong Christian values. In 2021, the institution earned the prestigious Council of International Schools (CIS) Accreditation, a global mark of educational quality.
The 50th-anniversary celebrations honored the school’s enduring commitment to academic excellence and recognized the contributions of teachers, alumni, parents, and staff over the past five decades.
Preparing Students for the Future
Speaking at the Golden Jubilee event, Mr. Juma Nyamori, Head Teacher of Rusinga Schools, emphasized the importance of innovation in education.
“For 50 years, Rusinga has nurtured leaders who excel in diverse fields. As we celebrate this milestone, we remain committed to empowering students with the skills needed for a rapidly evolving world. The Innovation Hub reflects our vision to cultivate future-ready leaders who will drive Kenya’s growth and global progress,” said Nyamori.
Shaping Kenya’s Education Landscape
As a founding member of the Kenya Association of International Schools (KAIS), Rusinga has played a pivotal role in education policy and curriculum development, including the rollout of the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) in partnership with the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD).
“Excellence in education goes beyond academics—it’s about shaping well-rounded individuals and contributing to national development. Our alumni, who are leaders in business, media, public service, and innovation, inspire current students to aim higher and make a difference,” Nyamori added.
Investing in Teachers and Continuous Growth
Beyond infrastructure, Rusinga is enhancing teacher development through a bespoke Continuous Professional Development (CPD) Programme, which includes training workshops, peer learning communities, and a resource hub for best teaching practices.
As it steps into its next chapter, Rusinga Schools remains dedicated to its Christian values, educational innovation, and nurturing the next generation of leaders.
