Five Secrets to Stop Worrying and Take Control of Your Life
By Oreoluwa Eminence Ojo

Have you ever taken a break to find out why you are always worried? Or why worry about particular things that occupy your heart? If you have not done that, you need to do that now.
Finding out why you worry about the things you worry about is crucial in gaining control of your life. Research has shown that worry comes from a desire to have absolute control over situations around you or the fear of losing control over the outcome of a particular situation. We worry because we are scared of the outcome of something.
One of the most common questions we ask about worry is if worry is a bad or good action. Worry can be good if you are occasionally concerned about certain events; however, chronic worry is much more severe and can cause considerable physical and emotional damage.
Chronic worrying is a vicious cycle that takes time and mental capacity. It must be broken to avoid a lot of more serious problems.
Do you have a yearning to stop worrying and take control of your life? Here are things you can do if you ever find yourself worrying about things you can’t control.

Five things to do in the event worry occupies your heart;

Calmly examine the situation

To see the situation clearly, you have to be calm. Some of your problems seem terrifying because you are not calm. You are not examining the problem to see where and how you can introduce a solution to the issues. You are so busy worrying and imagining the worst-case scenario in your mind.
The next time you find yourself overly worried about a particular situation, calmly take a step back. Calmly examine the situation and take control of the situation.

Make a list of the things you can control

Identify the things within your influence and those beyond your control. An example is this: you can influence how well you prepare for your examination but cannot control the questions you will encounter. It is vital to strike a balance between what you can influence and what you can’t control.
Your attitude to what you can influence gives you a level of preparation for the external factor you cannot control. Using the earlier example, preparing well for your examination can give you influence over your examination results. This will provide you with control over your mental health and emotions.

Develop your Mental Muscles

Developing your mental muscles is essential. To build your mental power, you have to understand that there are certain things you can’t control – things like people’s emotional responses to events, climate, and weather conditions.
Cultivating your mental muscles helps you find balance and increase your sense of happiness and success. This is because when you stop worrying about things you cannot control, you focus your energy on things within your influence, and you have a higher chance of success.

Identify your fear

Knowing what scares, you in every project you are carrying out is important. Many people are occupied with a nonexistent fear or a worst-case scenario that can never happen. Identifying your fear helps you plan for that case. Instead of worrying about failing your examination, you can think, “What would I do if I fail my examination?”. This way, you will put more time and energy into more productive planning.

Control and manage your stress level

Spend time with people you love, exercise, eat healthily, and sleep well. Take care of yourself and your health. Master the art of meditation to control and calm your mind. Eliminate bad habits and adopt healthy affirmations. Develop a few healthy and positive affirmations to keep you motivated and mentally strong.

The secret to start living is to stop worrying about the unseen and things you cannot control. Take control of your life by adopting these secrets. You can also limit your worry time daily. Think positively and stop worrying. Live your life without worry.
