“We have an even deeper hunger; we have this yearning for a better world. And because of that, we have an honest intention to do better.” – Sombo Kaweza, YALI Zambia
In 2014, when Sombo Kaweza uttered these words at the Young African Leaders Initiative, YALI, conference in Washington DC, she captured the feeling of a cross section of young Africans. The yearning for a better world and the honest intention to do better is as widespread as the air we breathe.
The differentiator, and that is where we should seek to be, is personal initiative. If every young person in Africa changed from just yearning for a better world to acting towards it, we will make the requisite steps to great achievement.
The power to change the future is in our hands. We must adapt quickly and have adequate faith to always do what, hitherto, we only wished we could. If you honestly change your wishes to willpower, you will take pride in your growth and the contributions you make to the growth of riches in our world.
