The Moroccan government has launched calls for tenders for three industrial complexes for a total investment of over $ 500 million in the form of public-private partnerships.
According to the British site “Global Construction Review”, these calls for tenders concern the industrial zone of Bouznika-Cherrat (about 40 km north-east of Casablanca), the creation of a new industrial zone in Sahel Lakhyayta and an extension of the existing industrial zone of Had Soualem (about 40 km southwest of Casablanca).
The transaction is coordinated by the Department of Industry, Trade, and the Green and Digital Economy and the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), which is a US development assistance initiative. A first attempt to launch these projects was made last May, but was disrupted by the Covid-19 pandemic, the same source said.
The 5-year program has a budget of 450 million dollars, granted by the MCC, and supplemented by a grant from the Moroccan government to the tune of at least 15% of this sum (68 million dollars).
The Sahel Lakhyayta and Had Soualem projects will cover an area of 111 ha, and the site clearance works have already been carried out by the Moroccan government. That of Bouznika will have an area of 25 ha.
According to a press release from the Ministry of Industry, Trade, Green and Digital Economy, the objective is to attract investment in the industrial sector and create employment opportunities for the highly skilled Moroccan workforce. qualified, which is particularly important in the current global economic context affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Companies are invited to bid for one, two or all three sites, but with a separate bid for each of the projects.

The former will assess technical and financial qualifications and assess their project plans; the second will assess the financial offer, which will be based on the consistency of the business plan, the entry fee offered and the forecast sale or rental price of the plots.
