How to Get More in All Areas of Life by Going the Extra Mile
By Sylvester Oluoch

There is only one way to get more returns than you are currently getting. The secret lies in habitually doing more than expected, in a higher quality fashion and doing all that with a smile on your face and love in your heart. We refer to this as going the extra mile at Success Afrika.

Going the extra mile means doing more than what is expected or required of you. It is a habit that can help you stand out from others and achieve success in various aspects of your life, including your career, relationships, and self-advancement.

Developing the Going the Extra mile habit takes time, effort, and dedication, but you can do it if you follow these steps:

Set specific goals:

Start by setting clear and achievable goals for yourself. Identify the areas where you want to go the extra mile, such as your work, or relationships, and establish a plan to reach them. Break down your goals into smaller, actionable steps that you can take every day.

Create a routine:

Develop a routine that aligns with your goal and plans. This will help you go the extra mile. For example, if you want to improve your performance at work, make it a habit to arrive early and stay late. If you want to improve your relationships, make it a habit to show appreciation and kindness to the people around you – you can catch more flies with honey than vinegar.

Focus on improvement:

Strive for continuous improvement in everything you do. Do not settle for mediocrity or complacency. Instead, look for ways to improve your skills, knowledge, and abilities. Attend seminars, read books, and seek feedback from your trusted friends or mastermind group. This will help you grow and improve.

Be proactive:

Take initiative and be proactive in your approach to your goals. Do not wait for opportunities to come to you; go out and take advantage of them. If you do not find opportunities, look around and create them yourself. Offer to help others, take on extra responsibilities, and look for ways to add value in all your relationships.

Stay motivated:

Keep yourself motivated by reminding yourself of why you want to go the extra mile. Focus on the benefits that this habit will bring to your life, such as increased success, satisfaction, and fulfillment. Celebrate your successes along the way and learn from your shortcomings. Even better, learn from those who have fallen short.

The Price and the returns: habitually going the extra mile requires a mindset of continuous improvement, proactive behavior, and a clear vision of your goals. With effort and devotion, this habit can become second nature – a point at which you not only have the whole of your goal, but your goal also has all of you. This will lead you to greater success and satisfaction in all areas of your life.
